Whether in sport or in life, you want to be free to thrive. But something is holding you back: mental blocks, confidence issues, perfectionism, disordered eating, unresolved trauma, or any number of other frustrating barriers.

No matter how badly you want to get to the other side, the thought of examining your headspace can be scary. You deserve a safe space to tap into your full potential.

Break free.

At Athlete Insight, we're clinical sport psychologists, psychiatrists, counselors, and performance-enhancement consultants who help athletes care for their minds as intentionally as they care for their bodies.

Confident & empowered—it’s time to thrive!

 Hi, I'm Dr. Kate Bennett.

I'm a two-time national champion, clinical sport psychologist, author, and founder of Athlete Insight.
As seasoned athletes, my team and I know that traditional therapy can feel like a half-solution. That's why, here, we've helped countless NCAA, professional, elite, Olympic, Paralympic, and recreational athletes with an approach tailored to the needs of an athlete's mind. We'd be honored to help you, too.

  • We treat most sports performance and mental health concerns, including:

    • Eating disorders/disordered eating, exercise dependency, body image concerns

    • Anxiety (clinical & performance)

    • Athletic identity concerns

    • Confidence & resilience issues

    • Career transition (from high school to college, college to pro, and pro to retirement)

    • Depression

    • Perfectionism

    • Mental blocks & barriers

    • Relationship concerns (including coach-athlete)

    • Self-esteem/self-worth concerns

    • Trauma (sport & non-sport)

You may still be wondering...

  • Predicting the duration of therapy is difficult because individuals are unique and situations are variable. We understand that no two stories are the same. Rather than fixate on a number of weeks or sessions, we work with individuals to develop meaningful goals and commit to regular assessment of progress and goal completion.

  • Typically, individuals attend weekly sessions; however, they may attend more or less frequently based on individual needs and progress. For example, you may attend weekly sessions at the start of therapy and taper down to biweekly and monthly as you near goal completion.

  • Therapy sessions range from 50-80 minutes in length based on individual needs. Usually, sessions are 50 minutes long unless it is your first session (60 minutes) or an EMDR session (80 minutes). Psychiatry sessions range from 15-60 minutes.

  • We support the clinical and performance needs of adolescents and adults.

  • We do not accept insurance out of respect for individual privacy. When therapists bill insurance directly, insurance companies require the sharing of personal information and rely on diagnoses to dictate the course and type of treatment. We prefer to treat individuals uniquely by tailoring therapy to personalities, needs, life experiences, and goals.

To help with the reimbursement of services, Athlete Insight teamed up with Mentaya, a platform that helps clients get money back on out-of-network therapy sessions. If you have out-of-network benefits, Mentaya will file claims and handle the insurance paperwork to make sure you get reimbursed. They charge a 5% fee per claim and have helped people get thousands of dollars back per year. You can check your benefits here.

Note: Mentaya's goal is to save you time and money. It's completely optional, and Athlete Insight does not benefit in any way from your participation.

If you are not interested in using Mentaya, we also provide superbills that you can submit directly to your insurance for potential reimbursement.

The provision of superbills does not guarantee insurance reimbursement. It is best to use Mentaya’s out-of-network benefit checker OR to contact your insurance company directly to fully understand your benefits. You are welcome to use an HSA account to pay for any Athlete Insight services.

  • The fees range based on the expertise and experience of the provider in addition to session length. Session fees for working with a LPCC ranges from $130-160 per 50 minute session. Licensed clinical psychologists charge $275 per 50 minute session. Twenty-five minute medical management appointments with our sport psychiatrist cost $225.

We accept major credit cards and require athletes to place a card on file. We will run each invoice following the completion of a service.

We believe you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate.

Per the No Surprises Act, you have a right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) of expected charges to understand how much your medical care will cost. Under this law, healthcare providers are required to give patients who do not have insurance or will not utilize their insurance an estimate of the bill for medical services and related items.

You have a right to receive a GFE for the total expected cost of non-emergency services and items. This includes medical testing, prescription drugs, hospital visits, and medical equipment.

A GFE should be provided at least one business day in advance of the scheduled service or item being rendered. You can request a GFE prior to scheduling an appointment with any and all healthcare providers.

If you receive a bill that is $400 greater than the GFE, you may dispute the bill. Be sure to save a copy or take a picture of the GFE in case you do need to dispute a bill. For more information about GFEs, please visit https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call the Colorado Division of Insurance at 303-894-7490 or 1-800-930-3745.

  • We request 48 hours of notice for cancellation. If you do not cancel within 48 hours of your scheduled session, you will be billed for the scheduled session in full.

  • We specialize in the clinical and performance needs of athletes, but we also enjoy working with individuals seeking support to thrive in life regardless of athletic status.
